FARS Scholarships The Foundation for Amateur Radio, Inc., with headquarters in Washington, D.C., plans to administer 54 scholarships for the academic year 20062007 to assist licensed radio amateurs. The foundation is composed of over 75 local area amateur radio clubs. Licensed radio amateurs may compete for these awards if they plan to pursue a full-time course of studies beyond high school and are enrolled in or have been accepted for enrollment at an accredited university, college, or technical school. The awards range from $500 to $2500, with preference given in some cases to a specific geographical area or the pursuit of a certain study program. Additional information and an application form may be requested by letter or QSL card, postmarked prior to April 30, 2006, from: FAR Scholarships, P.O. Box 831, Riverdale, MD 20738.

HRU 2006 Ham Radio University 2006 will be held Sunday, January 8, at Briarcliffe College, Bethpage, Long Island, NY. Highlights include keynote speaker Gordon West, WB6NOA, and 25 forums, including "Katrina Relief, Ham Radio Response," with the ARRL's Alan Pitts, W1AGP; "World Radiosport Team Championship 2006 in Brazil" with Jeff Briggs, K1ZM; "Computers and Ham Radio," with Rich and Nancy Rosner, N2STU, N2TKA: "Transmitter Hunting" with Larry Berger, WA2SUH; and more.
