The May issue of CQ takes us all over the world and even to countries that no longer exist! We start out with the story behind the story of this winter’s K1N mega-DXpedition to Navassa Island, look at “geopolitical recycling” and how it affects ham radio, and bring you the results of both the CQ World Wide RTTY and CW DX Contests. Please note: as we have been doing for the past two years, the station-by-station contest “line scores” are now online only, here on the CQ website. Click here for the complete RTTY scores or click here for the complete CW scores.
Also in the May issue of CQ, WB2MGP introduces us to ham radio’s future in her profile of young amateurs in the Radio Club of America’s Young Achiever Program. And we look to the future of electronics projects with articles on ham radio applications for both the Arduino microcontroller and Raspberry Pi compact computer. We also take a look at the not-so-new ham radio obsession with bargain-hunting in both our Ham Notebook and Kit-Building columns.
On the listening side of things, “Listening Post” editor Gerry Dexter decries the continuing loss of well-known voices on shortwave, focusing this month on Deutsche Welle. But there’s still plenty of good DX out there, as evidenced in Gerry’s logging reports, which are on our Listening Post blog page at <cqpluslisteningpost.blogspot.com/>.
That’s just a glimpse of what’s ahead in the May issue of CQ, available in both print and digital editions. For information on becoming a CQ print or digital subscriber, click here.
